Question:

Cost of cold air intake installation?

Hey there, So I‘v bought myself a cold air intake for my toyota seca (hatch) and Im wanting to know what the cost would be to get it put on at a shop in Australia ?Thanks in advanced !

Answer:

I would say your engine locking up is a big problem. Do you have your receipt? They may owe you a new engine. Why are you using additives anyway. If you use good quality lubricants you should not have to add any additives and always change your lubricants at the factory recommended intervals.
everyone keeps telling you to sue. I would recommend contacting the facility that changed your oil before any work or inspections is done to your car. if someone else inspects or removes and thing from your car, the oil change facility can deny your claim. oil change facilities have insurance companies, and are pretty fair when dealing with claims. but the main question is how do you know they put a trans add into your oil, and if you knew at the time of the oil change, why didn't you have them change the oil again. contact the oil change facility and let them know what happened.
Yes! It sure can. If you drove it 200 miles, and it locked up the lube place owes you big time.
Cold air intake installs only take a few minutes and very little tools and experience! Typically a few sockets and a flat head screwdriver will do the trick. If you do take it to a shop, I would imagine they would charge you around an hours worth of labor. So that will vary from shop to shop. Each place has its own labor rate! I still highly suggest installing it yourself! For yours all I think you need is the flat head screwdriver. Loosen the old clamp and remove any hoses. Put the new intake on and re-attach hoses and tighten the clamp. Then you are finished!
