Just wanted to reassure you John B is right. You can put an ABS axle on a non ABS car, with or without the ring. We have to do it all the time when putting in aftermarket axles. If you are feeling a little froggy though, you can purchase a boot kit and just replace the boots. Can be cheaper. The job is pretty dirty and you need a couple of special tools though, I don't know how much wrenching you do. Anyway, good luck!
the axle for the abs equipped vehicle WILL fit your vehicle.it may look different, but is probably the only replacent available. an abs driveaxle fits both applications w/o any problems, but a non-abs axle will work ok but will turn on the abs lite. the only difference in the axles is, the abs shaft has a trigger ring at the outer end to tell the wheel speed sensor how fast that wheel is going. i install 1or2 abs axles a month in non abs vehicles with no problems. i usually dont even have to remove the ring which breaks off easily.go for it.
