I have 2 cats that I can‘t keep off the counters. I have tried everything. I feel like it is a losing battle. But my main concern is the ceramic cooktop. Once I am done using it, it stays hot for a long time after the burner is turned off. I am afraid that they will get on the counter and walk across the cooktop while it is still hot. I have been washing the pan I was using and placing it back on the burner while the cooktop cools down. I was wondering if there are any suggestions for something else to place on top of the cooktop while it cools to protect their paws if they happen to walk across it?
There's a ceramic cook top stove in our kitchen and have had cats all my life. They jump up there when it is still hot they will jump even faster back down and doubt they will actually suffer an actual burn and it will teach them a lesson. You are the master of your pride and training them not to scratch, jump, walk where you don't want them to is doable. It takes your reacting consistently. Assertively remove the cat with a stern NO followed by clapping your hands loudly/stomp your feet to move them along. Ours understand the tone of NO, MOVE, BAD KITTY and GOOOOOD Kitty. Extreme hard cases there is the spray water bottle with the same verbals. Securing them in one area while you are out of the house will also send a message. They'll get it may take some time. Ours even come when we call their names. Hang in there.
I have a class surface electric stove from Sears. Does anybody make a cover to protect the glass while not in use?
