Why are you liming? Have you actually had the PH level of your soil tested? Mask, gloves, long sleeves and pants are fine. Don't apply too much or you actually will do more damage than good. If tests showed that you require a lot, make sure you raise the level with 2 applications over the next year or so instead of 1 large amount all at one time. Also if your soil is heavily compacted it a good time to aerate then apply the lime right after. This increases the effectiveness of the lime. ( penetrates it deeper into the root system ) I shake my head at the thumbs down when I don't see them posting their response. lol.
