Question:

cv drive axle seems stuck on trans!!!?

I tried pulling the broken piece and cannot seem to get it out.there is movement in the axle so it is not stuck together the ring in the end of the axle seems to be holding it in, so I stopped doing wath I was doing because i wanted to get an idea if it was all right to keep trying to pull it out.thanks for your time any ?‘s just ask.

Answer:

petrol and lighter. oh, and a good life/bike insurance policy.
depends on the vehicle your working on,some trans.has locke on the end of the axle ,if so you have to drop the pan and take the lock out so the axle can slide out.and you can rent a puller from auto zone and pull the axle out.
You have to over come the snapring by using long prybar for leverage, wedged it where the axle slips into the transmission,,and with a couple of hard jerks the axles in your lapCant pull it out w/ your handsEver see mechanics with what seems to be REALLY SUPER LONG SCREW DRIVERS ? THEIR actually prybar. Installing axle is equally important, slather the splines with white grease and push the axle really hard into the transmission.gots ta over come the ring--be sure the axle is seated
I have run into this problem many times. Go to you local parts store and see if they have a slide hammer with a vice grip attachment. I bought one from Snap-On and the whole set cost a bit of money, but some part stores have loaner tools. The only thing that you have to do is cut the inner boot off of the axle, and give the whole axle a good tug. This should seperate the inner joint from the rest of the axle. Now just take the vice grip adapter and clamp down on the piece of the axle that is in the transmission. Then screw the slide hammer on then go to town. After a few good slides it should just fall out. Please don't forget NEVER REMOVE BOTH AXLE SHAFTS unless you intende on rebuilding the transmission, because the spider gears WILL SPIN around, then you will be in some serious troble.
