Question:

Dell Charger overheated?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and it's over a year old. It's not the laptop itself but rather, the charger. I was just sitting here for a while and then realized my battery was running low but the charger and everything was plugged in. I felt the charger pack and it was very hot so i unplugged it and let it cool. It is now cool and still not working! I made sure everything is plugged in properly, tried different outlets and nothing is working! Do I have to get a new charger or should I just wait it out a day?

Answer:

Well laptop chargers in general tend to run very very hot so it probably wasn't overheated. A part inside probably just failed. You will either have to get a new one or have someone knowledgeable and skilled with a soldering iron repair yours. It probably has a bad capacitor or solder joint.
