Question:

Did younhave to ever use a fire extinguisher?

I see them all the time but never saw one used. Maybe they really don't work and are for snow.

Answer:

Here's a link to a ready made glue bottle/roller. I have one of these. it has a hard rubber roller which I think would work better if it was replaced with a paint roller type thing. If you will notice, the glue just squirts out of the bottle onto the surface of the roller. You could probably mount a mini paint roller onto a regular glue bottle with tape, wire strapping etc.
Ever thought of a staple gun??
Not really possible. Even if the water line is electrically connected to the whatever gets hit by lighting, the current from the strike is going to take the easiest path to ground. Now that water pipe is buried in the ground. The electricity is not going to come out the spout, pass through you, and then go down the drain, It's just going to stay in the metal pipes and head straight into the ground. It's basically the same reason that birds can sit on power lines safely. edit: OK, I'll defer to your experience as an EE, but a couple things you said still don't add up. How does metal vs plastic pipes make any difference at all? That stroke just passed through a couple hundred meters of air. How is an eighth of an inch of plastic going to affect anything? The pipe contains a conductive substance (i.e. water) which is definitely well grounded. The question of if it is sheathed in a light insulator or a conductor shouldn't make any difference to that much of a potential. In fact I would think that a metal pipe would be preferable since that definitely defines a low resistance path to ground that doesn't involve the water itself.
