Question:

Different types of Cold air intakes?

I have a 2006 dodge ram with the 5.7L Hemi, I was wondering which would give me more performance and mpg‘s, a cold air intake with plastic tubing or metal tubing? I need opinions, Thanks for the help.

Answer:

What's all this about cold air intakes ? Your vehicle comes with a cold air intake, it is not heated so it must be cold. Any changes you make will change the air / fuel ratio to the ecm and cause many problems. You will gain nothing and performance and mpg will be worse.
Go to Ebay and look for the cheapest cold air intake with a cone filter. You will notice the increased intake sound, your vehicle will breathe easier, you'll get better mileage assuming you won't be on the gas too much to listen to the intake. I like the aluminum tubing myself. Make sure it comes with the correct tubing for vacuum and any sensors if needed. Since your going to do the intake you might as well put a glass packed muffler on it too. Cut the original muffler out and weld in a muffler. The truck will even breathe better and sound great. You will not have to recalibrate the computer. The computer will compensate for these addons. Best of luck.
AEM usually you cant go wrong with them they do a lot or Research and development on their products and they are dyno proven.
