Question:

Do apartment sprinklers go on when someone pulls the fire alarm?

I live in a brand new apartment building, and I was just curious if the apartment fire alarm went off, would the sprinklers go on.

Answer:

You know, I have exactly the same fear, except with me I worry it will go through the electrical sockets and blow everything up. The thing to do is remember that this is a disproportionate amount of fear for the level of risk involved. Yes, any of these things might happen but there is only a minscule chance that they really will. When there's a lightning storm, take reasonable precautions; in your case, keep some fire extinguishers in the house. But then force yourself to go about your business. You have to. You cannot control the lightning, you can only control yourself. If your anxiety gets really bad, see the doc for some medication that you can take. But the best way to deal with this is to plan for the worst, expect the best, but get on with your life anyway. Take control!!
I would contact a supervisor or a manager and explain this to them and state that being they have not corrected your problem, if in deed there are real problems, by that I mean just not lack of knowing how to operate the system, then politely explain to them that see they have not met their part of the contract, then you should not be held accountable for your part of the contract and you wish to cancel. If they do not help you out then tell them you a going to contact the consumers department of your state about a defective alarm and they won't let you cancel your contract. Sorry for the long answer, hope this helps, and good luck
