Question:

do different cars use different wheel weights?

I am trying to replace a wheel. However the wheel weight is missing. Do I have to use a wheel weight that is the brand of the car I have, or would the general company (such as Firestone) have wheel weights they could use.

Answer:

You had better get the wheel balanced by a tire store. You have no way of knowing how much or where to put the weight.
You can go to any tire shop and have your tires balanced. They have different kinds of wheel weights for different wheels. I have managed a tire shop for 18 so trust me on this.
The wheel weights are determined on the wheel and tire balance, not brand. You need to take the tire and wheel to a tire shop and ask them to balance it for you. Probably $5 or so.
