Do fire extinguishers expire?

A fire extinguisher when purchased has a storage life of around 5 years. This is a safety issue. It should be used ONLY to aid getting you away from a fire, not actually for fighting a fire. Depending on its size depends of if it should be refilled tested or simply disposed of responsibly. large ones cost about $80 and only $30 to test and refill, small ones cost $10 and 15 to test and refill.
