I posted a question a few weeks ago about alignments and one of the answers lead to this question.I have a crooked steering wheel but there is no pull from the tires to either driver or passenger side. If I let go of the wheel, the car keeps going straight. Are there different types of alignment problems? Basically, is there a mis-alignment when the wheels are crooked and/or if the steering wheel is just not aligned with the wheels?
i can still show you a scary trench that had years of use
Ramps, pits, and jacks and axle stands
lol no u don't need a alignment.ur steering wheel is just crooked.in fact 95 prct of all cars have crooked steering wheels.in fact the only 1 in my yard that isn't crooked is the 1 i took off and straightened.steering wheel has nothing to do with wheel alignment. to correct ur problemu will have to set the wheels straight and pull of the steering wheel and put it back on straightin some vehicles this is not even possibleand in most not worth the time and effort since u have to disable the air bag and buy or rent a steering wheel puller so bottom line u don't have a alignment problem and u don't need to fix anythinggood luck
When the car's wheels are aligned, if the adjustment is all done on one side then the steering wheel is no longer in the straight ahead position when driving and the steering wheel needs to be removed and repositioned on the steering column splines to coincide with the road wheels being in the straight ahead position. It doesn't necessarily mean that the tracking is out if the steering wheel is misaligned with the straight ahead position
Do not remove the steering wheel and set it on different splines to straighten a steering wheel. If you have a front wheel drive car you need a four wheel alignment. Tell the shop that the steering wheel is crooked. Crooked steering wheel spokes is a dead ringer that there is an adjustment problem or bent suspension arm issue. I'll make a personal bet with you that the toe angle is out of adjustment.
