I got a jeep wrangler and it has off road tires. one of them is dead and cant be repaired. i want to know if it would be a better investment to replace that one tire, or get 5 new on road tires.
Most off roaders do 80% street use, the off road tires on your Jeep should be matched to your needs. If you have a Jeep to LOOK like an off roader then get better street tires. if you actually go off road then move down the scale into more off road treads.
Off road tires have deep tread made of super soft rubber for lots of bite. I'll bet if you look at the side wall of these tires you'll see no UTQG rating. The higher the number after the letters UTQG the longer the tires last. Snow, race, tractor, go-kart tires have no wear rating either because it would scare everyone away from buying them. If you switch to regular tires again you won't have to put up with that awful tread howl when you drive down the road.
I would never buy a new car not only are dealers scam artists and there is a huge mark up but when buying a used car especially in a bad economy if you have cash you will be way better off. Look for a used car that is even still under warranty if that is a huge concern. Secondly if you want an off road vehicle look for a nice used one that has not been used for off roading. In other words look for my moms car, she bought a 4x4 pathfinder and has taken it on exactly 2 dirt roads both of which she did not need 4x4 for but she used it anyway to make herself feel good. She is not alone i know lots of people like that, and lots of people who need the lift kit, and every other accessory under the sun to look cool and rarely use them to their full potentional. So why be a sucker and go to the dealer and pay full price and then put full price accessories etc on a car when you can get a couple year old one that someones already had their fun with and spent the money on (good lift kits are not cheap and cheap lift kits are not good) youll get alot more bang for your buck and itll still get you the same places.
