Have you tried talking with the person above your immediate manager? It sounds like a good idea at least to clear your name and at the same time it will make it clear that your manager is probably too thin-skinned and/or has poor managerial skills if he/she hasn't heard your side of the story. I'm not saying to hope for your job back because as you say, it's an at will state. You must live in a pretty pathetic area if nobody knows how to do filing. Are you in Florida?
