I've heard twice in the past 2 days on ESPN that they think Aluminum bats are dangerous. I disagree with this cause if they were dangerous why would they allow them to use them in college and high school. Isnt that what the BESR certification mean that the bat is safe that the ball isnt going to come off at super high speeds. i just wanted to get your opinion.
Todays aluminum/non-wood bats are different fromt he ones used by the commentators in the CWS. They are slightly heavier and have a -3 (I played with a -5 in HS mid-80's) plus the BESR is getting better to insure equal reaction to that of wood. Personally economics answers the question about non-wood bats. Just live with it.
I don't know what they are thinking about unless it is the fact that they are lighter and a given person can create higher bat speed which translates to harder hit balls. However I don't think there's that much difference from what I've observed. I have seen 2 of them come apart at games my boys played in but nobody got hurt.
Yes I heard this also and let me tell you something the wooden bats are also dangerous. I hate hitting a ball and then I get stung and that hurts. I like the aluminum bats better, so they should just keep them on the market because they are not so much dangerous then the wooden one's.
in my opinion, when people make an argument about how aluminum bats are dangerous i cant help to imagine a cracked wooden bat flying thru the infield. I think that wooden bats are actually more dangerous. a lot of people that don't like aluminum bats say that one day a fly ball is gonna kill someone off of a aluminum bat, but the same thing would probably happen woth a wooden bat. i personally love to use aluminum bats and a hate it when my high school coach makes me use a wooden bat.
No they are not but they are STUPID. Has a story or poem ever had the PING of the bat? No! It's the CRACK of the bat that's what the game is all about.
