Question:

Dodge Charger for a first Car?

I would like a Dodge charger, but my parents insist that it is not safe enough. What are some good things about getting a dodge charger. He also says that there is no weight in the back end, but he is okay with a truck which also doesn't have any weight in the back end. I just need some good things about a Dodge charger. Thanks

Answer:

Big rear wheel drive car in rookie hands is likely to be a big wrecked rear wheel drive car. Just fast and squirrelly enough to have a little too much fun.
They aren't bad cars. They are fast so if you want one get the V6 or Pentastar one (I think SE or Base) it won't have a lot of power compared to the V8 Hemi. If your parents still say no suggest it's little brother. The Avenger isn't a bad choice. It's smaller (not by much) it comes standard with the 2.4 4 cylinder option which would be best for a new driver, also upgrade able to V6 or Pentastar. Both the Charger and the Avenger have one of the highest safety ratings and very few cause mechanical issues.
It might be an insurance issue , fast cars, and sporty cars cost a ton to insure. it may seem cruel but they are concerned about you ,you should give them piece of mind
I don't think a charger is a good first car either but either is a truck. It is a teen dream to have a super cool car, but the reality is a charger would be super expensive to insure, so just look for a boring but reliable car for your first few years of driving. You might not even desire a Charger in 3 - 4 years of driving in the real world, especially once you start paying for gasoline with your own money.
