Question:

Dodge pickup trucks transmissions.?

Do dodges pickups transmissions really go out easy or do people just say that?

Answer:

I am a Dodge boy for life, but will be the first to tell you that they messed up on a era on Dodge Truck transmissions. My 96 had a rebuilt transmission put in at 60,000 miles. My rebuilt is now slipping. All car company's have something that is a problem, and Dodge for a while was their Transmissions. The new Transmissions are much better. Espically in the HD lines. Its similar to Chevy 350's needing new intake gaskets after so many miles. That is mowhere near the same price as a new transmission, but each car and make has something bad that they are known for.
Not any more than Ford or Chevy transmissions that haven't been serviced properly. It doesn't matter the brand, if you don't service it properly and take care of it, it will turn to junk.
The automatics flat out SUCK. The CTD is putting out much more torque even when bone stock than the light weight POS can handle. With a really light foot and not hauling trailers or acting stupid, you can choke 80k out of one. As for the half ton trannies: they're just as bad. 60k miles of babying my 04 Hemi Ram and she's slipping like crazy. As for the Allison trannies, I've replaced way too many in my lifetime. 40k on a 3/4 gas burner and she's already had 3 put in.
