I am trying to save a little money on my electric bill and curious how to keep her warm without running so many lights all day
First, make sure the warm and cool end of your enclosure is outfitted with a thermometerThis will help make sure you will not increase the temperature of the cage too much or whether your insulation method is effective enoughAluminum foil will workI used this on a 55 gallon tank I used last winterHowever, what I found worked best was purchasing a sheet of 1/2 inch thick insulation from a hardware store and cutting it to the dimensions of the cage, putting one sheet of it on each sideThis was much more effective and easier to assemble than the aluminum foilThe insulation sheet was also pretty inexpensiveWhen summer came I just unstuck the four sheets and set them in a corner to use again next winter.
