Possible, but unlikely. If you really want to keep it from dying, use a battery with a better Cold Cranking amp.
If the new lock is the same manufacturer, it can be keyed to work with your old key. If not, then get a new SET that is keyed alike, and replace both locks. You can purchase as many keyed alike locks and deadbolts as you have exterior doors. This will give you good locks for all doors with only one key shape to contend with.
