no, but the quality of filter does.
Only if you drive through water -- then the engine hydro locks and grenades. Those cold air intake pipes are a waste of money. I've seen dozens of engines destroyed because of them.
No, cold air intakes only advantage is that the density of cold air is greater than that of hot, or warm air. So you can have more cold air in the same amount of area as warm air. The more air you have, per area the more fuel you can also have in the same area, the more fuel the more power. If you think about it, a cold start always has cold air at the intake, no harm will come out of cold air.
