I am trying to find some good kindling for my fire pit. Do any of the home improvement sell their pallets or give them away?
I would use 4' or 5' T posts for farm fencing, depending on how hard the ground is, These are available at feed stores and you pound them into the ground for temp. fencing posts. Screw the pallets together and use one T post per 10-15' or so. Secure with galvanized U straps from the local home improvement store screwed into the pallet. And there you have it. T posts are about $4.00 each and U straps are about 35 cents each. Cheaper still you can use plumbers strap (galvanized metal 1/2 or 3/4 strap that comes in a roll with holes in it for screws, and you cut to size,) to secure the T posts to the pallets.
Buy 2 X 4 stakes like they use for concrete forms. Hammer them into the ground and then nail in the pallet. Should have one every two pallets.
