Answer:

Its glass with a dark backing. Like when u look out a window when the lights are on inside and its dark outside.
Looks like it has been clearly explained already. I couldn't agree more. But the fact of the matter is, if the lock is popped by any other means, the alarm will go off (identical to the way it does when the panic button is depressed for 1 second). This vehicle comes equipped with 2 things that prevent you from setting the alarm off on your own. The first thing is passenger sensors in both the driver and passenger seats. These are primarily to sense when the driver is sitting in the seat and also (passenger side only) to sense the passenger and enable/disable the passenger supplementary restraint system (air bags) according to their weight. If the weight is under approximately 80lbs, the airbag will be disabled automatically to prevent smaller children from sustaining injury from the airbags. This being said, it also prevents the alarm from going off when the door is unlocked from the inside (while a driver is sensed in the seat). The second sensor is the window sensors. (This is only true in select models/trims). When you leave the window rolled down and you use the keyfob to lock the door, it will not sound the alarm if the car is unlocked via the physical lock from inside of the vehicle. If the window was rolled all the way up and the door was unlocked via the physical interior lock, the alarm would normally sound. As is true with all anti-theft devices on newer hondas, if the vehicle is started with a key that does not have a chip, the alarm will sound and in some models (such as acura's) the vehicle will not even start. This is very similar to Chevy's anti-theft keys which have been used since the early 1990's. I hope this helps to explain the anti-theft system in the civic.
