Question:

Does the Accord 1998-2002 Manual Transmission Have Problems?

I know that the auto transmission has a lot of problems, especially the V6 model, but I was wondering if the manual transmission also suffers from similar problems.

Answer:

since manual transmissions are much simpler than autos, they are generally much more likely to be reliable. With that said I've got a 96 civic with a 5-speed and over 200k miles, I've never even had to replace the clutch. It does often pop out of third gear, but I suspect this is an issue with the transmission/engine mounts failing rather then the transmission itself
no.but then again neither does the auto.just ppl don't take care of them like they are supposed to the autos need to have the trans flushed every 45k miles since the hondas have internal filter that cannot be removed.and fluid should be checked and replaced at same time or replaced every 75k at minimum ppl don't do this which is why they have problems with the transmissions
