I‘m looking for used snow tires. I have a Chevy cavalier tire size is 195/70/14 but when I search for snow tires in that size I‘m not finding any matches (which could simply be because there aren‘t any) but what I am finding is 170/75/14. Would those work or no?
pounds per squared inch - you have a 2000 pound ride - that's 500 per tire - so you have wide tires - lets say you have 16 inch's on the ground squared -16 divided 500 31.25 psi - ok learn - 185 tire - with this tire you have only 12 inch's squared - 12 divided by 500 41.666 - ok I'm finish
Should work ok. A 175 mm wide tire is only like one inch skinnier then the 195 mm wide factory. Also, a 205 mm wide tire should work.
thats because you have a popular tire size and the good ones disappear fast so you have to either spend far too much time looking for what is likely to be a poor used tire or spend a few bucks and buy a new tire that has what you want and is safe. Also your chances of getting 4 used snow tires is almost zero. 2 here , two there maybe, but not 4. go with the size recommended by the factory it will work the best. not some skinny scrwany tire.
