Question:

Driving with no transmission fluid?

So I was driving my car with no transmission fluid in it. I‘m young and didn‘t really know how to check things like that, never really had to. So my car an hot the other day because the hose from the water pump had a whole in it. As I was driving it home to get it checked, when I put my foot on the gas the car was kinda hesitating to go. The mechanic came over fixed the hose. I drove again and the when I put my feet on the breaks it was still hesitating. He then checked and informed me that I hate NO transmission fluid. So my question is, Will filling it with transmission fluid fix this problem or is the damage already done? I didn‘t drive it at all after I found out there was no transmission fluid.F.Y.I. have an automatic Honda Accord if that matters.

Answer:

Driving without transmission fluid can seriously damge the transmission, seizing all the gears Damage may have already occurred however its possible that it still had fluids in reserve, have someone check to find where leakage is then refill and test before you get on the road again, Lets hope there is no permanent damage. You have a leak that needs some mechanical intervention , so get the car fixed, fill it up with fresh fluid and see how it works. best of luck.
And the bad news is that you might as well start preparing yourself for a complete transmission rebuild. I'll put odds on that bet.
You didn't have no transmission fluid. The car wouldn't move if you didn't have at least some in the pan.
First of all, you need to address the fact that you have transmission fluid leaking somewhere, and it is obviously a bad leak. Once you do that, the only way you will know if the transmissions survived, is to fill it up with the correct auto trans fluid to the proper level and take it for a drive. Again, make sure you address the problem to begin with. There is NO reason why there should be no automatic transmission fluid. You have a bad leak somewhere.
it should u need to find the trani data plate on both vehicals should be on the bell housing or top of trani go figure makes it allmost impossible to see so get a inspection mirrior and a flashlight out
