Question:

During the summertime, should I have my attic windows open?

The chimney is there, and it's super hot.ALSO, should I bother replacing these very old windows? (during hot weather or cold weather, would it help to have good, insulated windows to keep the house in better shape? In other words, for example, would good attic windows really keep the house warmer in winter?)

Answer:

it depends on what type of mix it is.
I don't see why it couldn't work, try it !!
As long as they're well screened and don't admit rain, leaving them open in summer to make the house cooler is a good ideaWhether insulated windows will help much in winter depends on whether your insulation is in the attic floor or between the roof rafters.
