Embarrasing question about a high fiber diet.?

I have been following a low fat, high fiber diet and have had some great resultsHowever, every afternoon I get pains in my stomach, which I know are gas from all the fiberI am wondering if it is ok to take an over the counter gas medicine, like Gas-X for that, or can my body get accustomed to that? I dont want to change my diet because I finally found a way to lose weight without feeling deprived, but it can get real painful some days.
