Question:

Everytime i turn on my heater my fire alarms go off is this carbon monoxide coming out?

i barely had my heater on yesterday like 1 minute as soon as I turned on the heater my fire alarms were going off! I think they are carbon monoxide alarms as welldoes this mean thats whats coming out? but ii thought carbon monoxide didnt have a smell? I smelled something like a burnt smell thoughwhat is that and can i fix it? someone mentioned that the coils could be dirty but how can i clean it myself?

Answer:

the problem is the motor is overheating and it has a built in thermal safety. you cant replace the safety, but you can try to vacuum out any lint in the motor, the best way is to use air to blow out all the lint from the motor. i would bet it hasnt been running right before and now its just gotten worse and shuts off sooner and sooner each time it gets hot. also if you dont have much room to take it apart it will be very hard to get inside and clean the motor. if you do have to replace the motor then it could cost 200 bucks, if that ends up being the case, i would just go out and get a new dryer.
Have you tried a system restore? If you can boot into safemode you should be able to roll the whole system back to a time when it was working
