Question:

exhaust system for my 95 eclipse gs?

i just bought and exhaust system for my car. its from the resonator back. i planning on buying headers before i put anything on. i thinking about buying a high flow test pipe catalytic converter. but i was told putting this high flow catalyic converter would screw with my senor and more than likely make lights come on in my dash. the person that told me this said i should get my computer recalibrated but i dont know where to get that done or how much it will cost. he said i should just keep the stock converter. what should i do?

Answer:

If you've got a resonated exhaust and hi flow cats then most likely you will need your ECU remapped/recalibrated. Without doing this you'll not be getting the most out of either the exhaust or the cats. A remap should cost less than the exhaust you've bought. Have a look online or search forums to find somewhere reputable for your make of car.
Well thats a loaded question. For starters, it depends on the money your wanting to invest vs. the horsepower your wanting to gain. A good start was your exhaust to open up the air flow. You must remember the air thats coming into your motor. I would purchase a cold-air intake to increase air flow, HP, and gas milage. Thirdly, I would also get some new spark plugs. I would recommend NGK Iridium IX plugs. I installed on my eclipse and I really FELT the difference its important to have a quick spark. If your planning on purchasing a turbo don't even bother with headers as you will get a downpipe to replace your headers. Good luck tuning.
I had a 99 Neon, the engines are very similar i put pacesetter headers, catco cat 3in piping, and a apex'i N1 muffler. This didn't trip any lights and if i would have i would have just run the car with the light. In the auto industry we call them Dummy Lights. Grated no noticeable problems post installation, rough idle, stalling, etc. i wouldn't worry about any light and would do whatever type of system you want.
