Question:

First motorcycle question?

So I‘m thinking about getting a motorcycle just because I love the thought of having one and all. But I have a few questions. Starting off. What is a good first bike to get? Cheap of course, but not too cheap. Second. How much does gas cost a month for a bike? Compared to a car?And lastly. I am only 16 and have a class c learners permit and live in oregon. Do I have to be a certain age in order to get a permit in order to ride? Do I have to take classes?Sorry for the long question, thanks in advance.

Answer:

i have the same problom with my ford transit it makes a howling noise when turning corners and front wheels seem to judder you can also feel it on the steering wheel and its the same whether turning left or right hand corners
Take the MSF course. They teach you everything from scratch and how to ride a motorcycle It will be a 6 hr class time period and you take a written test then after that you will ride around on a motorcycle which they provide and thats 6 hrs and then you do a drivers test and if you pass that they will give you a certificate to go to the dmv to take another written test then once you pass that you get your license. and by taking the MSF course your insurance wont be as high either. great starting bike will be the 250r ninja. great mileage
In Oregon, at 16, you will have to take the MSF classes in order to get a motorcycle license, no getting around it. You do not have to get a permit to take the class, but you do have to have a driver's license. As far as what motorcycle to get. Since this is your first motorcycle, and you don't have any experience around them, I would recommend bike around 250cc and used if you can find one. Gas for a bike cost the same as for a car, right now around $3.20 a gallon. As far as MPG on a motorcycle, that, just like cars, can vary a lot depending on what size of motorcycle, and how you ride. I know some motorcycles can get 100 miles per gallon, while mine gets 30 mpg. But mine is 2000cc and I ride hard.
I thought I was crazy! This exact thing happened to me! I just replaced my brakes and rotors all around, re packed the bearings, flushed the brake system and rotated the tires. All done! NOPE! As soon as I get it all put together I go to leave the driveway for a test drive and the wheel starts to shutter when I turn it to a certain point. Once I get past that point it stops but when I turn it back, it does it again! I was nervous to drive it so I left it and am driving my dads truck right now. Mine is a 1998 explorer with a v8. I thought this can't be coincidence that I went to trouble shoot Google style, and your question was the first to come up. I didn't feel like any of the answers were very specific to this situation so I was wondering if you ever figured out what the actual problem was with yours. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
