Question:

Front-Wheel drive question?

Last I researched, there was 4 wheel drive and Rear Wheel Drive.Toyota Corollas have front wheel drive? What does that mean?

Answer:

The front wheels are the wheels that move the car
front wheel drives means the front wheels pulls the car and a 4 wheel drive all 4 wheels pulls the car.
there are 3 basic types of drive trains (a way of delivering the engine's power to the wheels) and they are: 4 wheel drive, rear wheel drive, and front wheel drive. front wheel drive is when the engine turns the front wheels to move the car forward. rear wheel drive is when the engine turns the rear wheels to move the car forward. 4 wheel drive is when all 4 wheels are turned by the engine. on a regular front or rear wheel drive car, the other 2 wheels are only turned by the momentum of the car. yes, all newer toyota corolla's have front wheel drive. but in the 80's and before, they were rear wheel drive. i hope that explains it. just email me if you want a more in depth explanationn, i don't mind explaining it.
