oem 205/65r15 94hafter rims with tires 215/50t17 90vquestion is oem is 94h and aftermarket rims have 90v is that bad?also what should the tire pressure be?
Baloon is correct. But check for clearance with body and suspension. You don't want the tire to get cut when going over a bump or driving hard! I work for Firestone.
The speed rating is not an issue, but the load index certainly is. If your OEM tires have a load index of 94 the 90 rated tires simple will not give you the necessary load carrying capability needed for your vehicle. This could be a major safety issue of your.
the number and letter represent the tires load rating (how much weight it can support) and speed rating (how fast the tire can go before it is stressed or damaged) your old tires were rated for 1477 lbs and 130 MPH your new tires are rated for 1323 lbs and over 130 mph as long as your car doesn't weigh more than 5200 pounds ( and I really doubt it does) you are just fine. The new tires are only rated for 154 pounds less than the old ones and the speed rating is better. You're tire pressure is listed on a sticker in the drivers door jamb or in the owner's manual. since you haven't changed the size of the tire drastically, the tire pressure most likely should stay close to factory specs. which is probably right around 32psi
