Question:

Grand Prix gt died at stop light.?

I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with the 3.8 and auto. Today while sitting at a light the car idled normally, but when I have it gas it shut off. It took about 30 seconds before it would restart. There has been no issue since then. Other issues with the car would be occasionally the tach will stop working and the traction light will come on and there is a weird smell occasionally with the heater on.

Answer:

You have a wiring problem and need diag to find out what.
might have something to do with how cold it is I really don't want to give you brainless information when I don't even know what I am talking about considering I am only sixteen with no car but my mom had that problem all the time during winter.it is something to do with how cold it is outside.
is this a three.a million or a three.4L motor? i assume the mechanic scanned the PCM and did not locate any codes? anyhow, i might want to have an in intensity seem in any respect the spark plug wire ends on both ends and the placement of the ceramic area of the spark plugs which had a bent to corrode and/or carbon song which could supply a misfire at situations. you also may have a coil it truly is shorting out even as it receives warm. even as the motor is speeded up, it needs a hotter spark to bounce the gaps so if the coil has a short to floor close to the end of its course, you in worry-free words get area of the accessible spark. the suitable ingredient to do is to study issues even as that's performing up.
