He's walked 2-3 times a day twice a day is not enoughEven three is pushing it a bitI take mine out when we get up, midday, mid afternoon and at bedtimeAs for no way to indicate he has to go, attach a bell by the door he goes in and out ofWhen you take him out, ring itEncourage him to ring itLet him associate the bell with going outDOgs learn to ring the bell when they need to goMy dog just stands parallel to the door when he needs to goSince we do not need the bell for that I taught him to ring a bell for a treatThen I had to put the bell away as he just kept ringing itHe does love his treats.

all dogs need training, exercise, socialization, grooming and vet care you take out on schedule and train to go, not wait why didn't you think of that before getting an unbroken dog? pads have never worked for me except to tell dog it is ok to use house

I don't know if I can necessarily help you with your issue, I Just wanted to say that I also live in a large metropolitian area (NYC), my dogs are walked 3 times a day, on a set schedule, fed on a set scheduleSo, as long as the dog is getting exercise and not just going out for a potty break, 3x's a day going out is fine2x's a day, is to littleHas the dog been check for stones, crystals or some other underlying health issue that can be causing this? Does she only pee when your not home or will she do this when your home also? If she does this when your home, then I wouldn't give her free reign of the home, I would have her tethered to meHowever, before implementing any other training, I would have a vet checkBring in a urine sample if you canI would also run bloodwork for diabetes and cushings.
