I have a yamaha 1700 silverado cruiser motorcycle. I have a Dunlop d404 on the rear. 3000 miles it is wore. i wanna go with a harder compound tire. does anyone know what tire out there is a hard compound?
Avon and Continentals a standard for the BMW tourers.
Brake issues can in no way be related to running out of gas. With the transmission in Neutral and the bike on its stand, lift each wheel in turn and check for resistance while turning them by hand. it would be VERY odd if both front and rear brakes were to have a problem at the same time. Maybe you didn't run out of gas, but the motor seized slightly?
you might laugh BUT here in the UK many people use a CAR tyre yes there are car tyres that will fit the wheel, They last in excess of 20,000 miles on a car on a bike you can expect 12,000 or more and they are cheaper than bike tyres Ensure you have a speed rating that is comensurate with your riding
Motorcycle tires are not rated for miles like cars are. But, there are different styles that have different lifespans. Suppersport tires have short lifes. Are soft, and grip exceptionally well. Cruiser tires generally last between 5000-15,000 miles. Of course weight, speed, and other factors contribute greatly to a tires life. The longest lasting tires and hardest compounds are touring tires. Just replace your back tire with a touring tire. Continental tires brag about haveing the longest life.
Why would the brakes lock-up by running out of fuel?!? Is this bike actually a quad and it has a 'parking' brake attachment on the front bike lever?
