Our hard-wired smoke detectors are giving us quite a hassle. They go off (actual alarm, not the beeping we would hear if the batteries were low), usually in the middle of the night for about 2-3 seconds. It's enough to wake us up. It's actually become such a normal activity that we wait to make sure the alarm does not sound longer than the usual 2-3 seconds, then we just go back to bed. Last night, the alarm went off around 2 am and did the normal 2-3 seconds, but then did it again less than 10 seconds later. This time, we made sure to check the house for smoke/fire/anything unusual. Another false alarm. Yep, thanks for waking us up again. We would REALLY like to find out what's causing thisHas anyone else ever had this problem? Of course, when one alarm goes off, they all go offNo smoke, no fire, and our carbon monoxide detector has never gone off. I'm so, so tired of this happening (maybe 2 times a week).Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
You can clean the sensor in some smoke detectors. Check the web site below for directions on cleaning a smoke detector and see if it helps. If it doesn't, just replace the unit.
I've been thinkin about this and great Idea. although maybe first you should test is by pinning it to a wall and shooting them first ;)
