Question:

Hard wired smoke detectors?

My hard wired smoke detectors go crazy if I open windows on really humid days. Has this ever happened to anyone else. do they need to be replaced? They're 11 years old.

Answer:

Ok people, this is exactly what the deal is. I have a Kidee and it says right on the back after 7 years unit will chirp every minute to remind you to go buy a new unit. This is really bad, but I guess in a society which chooses to allow lawsuit wins to dictate our lives, we get what we get. Because we both know, if a smoke detector didn't go off and someone died, that very same someone's family sues and get paid for Kidee NOT telling people their units don't last past 7 years. Yeah, I know; they got paid by the tax payers. Every year the government pays out to the people over 500 million dollars because of illegal conduct and/or violation of rights. And then who pays? Yes, the tax payer. Damn. . . .
Depends how sensitive the fire alarm is , if its a good fire alarm it will set off when the slightest bit of smoke is detected .
Is there a key release button?
