Question:

HDMI cable and TV - HELP?

I recently bought an HDMI cable to connect to my PC to extend my PC screen(s), but the resolution and quality is quite bad despite the TV being good. Is there any way I can change the resolution through the computer? The remote doesn't let me, apparently. Thanks!!

Answer:

Go to Control Panel on your computer. There should be something called Mobile PC, click on that. Then click on Personalization and at the bottom there should be something called Display Setting. You should be able to change the resolution there. I'm not sure if there is a set resolution that you can use when connecting your PC to your TV. For me it was just trial and error until I got the best setting I could. Oh, you might also have trouble getting the sound to come from the TV instead of the computer when you join them by an HDMI cable. If your sound starts coming from your computer Under Personalization again there should be a Sound button. Click on that and under Playback you can select HDMI Output as your default playback device. This will not affect your sound setting when the cable is not connected but it does save a lot of time if you are going to constantly use the HDMI cable. Good luck!
HiMake sure you have the latest driver for your video card. Resolution and sound settings should be in whatever program the card uses. Use your mouse and keyboard to access them and make sure the cable is not faulty and is the correct type.
Generally, Right click the desktop properties or personalize Settings - 17R3W
