Question:

HELP! Boiler pressure...?

Basically, my boiler pressure went from 2 on the gauge to 4, the maximum pressure measurement on its gauge.I have a job interview today, I really cant go a day without using the water. Is it at risk of exploding or something if I take a shower?Thank you.

Answer:

Yes that is quite dangerous... see youtube/MythBusters how a boiler could fly through several levels of a typical wooden structural house. You must have a fault somewhere... Faulty Pressure Valve or Temp sensor even clogged pipe. YOU COULD: 1) Reduce Temperature to Lukewarm or Vacation Setting ==Lower temp, lower pressure, less time in shower 2) Press the Pressure Relieve valve *SLOWLY*, but submerge the pipe in bucket with cold water since hot steam could rush out. ==This is a temp fix What did you do to it, or how did you happen to see that the pressure went up right when you happen to be next to the boiler?
open up the valve more to re leave some pressure and it won't explode
Hi, okorder
sounds like your filling loop is open, the boiler will automatically expel the water as it has a pressure release valve, i suggest opening the front panel and releasing the pressure manually, the valve will be red, either a lever or round twist type, bring the pressure down to quite low, then refill up to 1-1.5 bars, no more, check the filling loop is closed , if it still pressurises too much contact me and i will go through a few things with you, note.. the pressure will rise a little when in use due to expansion
