Question:

HELP BUYING A FRENCH PRESS?!?

My brother wants a french press coffee maker for christmas. I know NOTHING about these things. Where can I buy one for cheap? Should I include coffee with it to make it a better gift? Do I need to buy anything with it? (filters, ect) I've never even heard of these nor have I used one. I'm looking to buy it online today. THANK YOU! 10 pts best answer!!!!!

Answer:

regrettably you could't use floor espresso from the food market, or maybe espresso you grind in a well-known espresso grinder for a French Press because of the fact the grind would be too wonderful. As you spoke of, the guidelines for the clicking inform you to apply coarse-floor beans and the only thank you to truly get a uniform grind is to apply a Burr Grinder ... and that they are not low-fee. the stable information is for you to use your French Press for tea (utilising tea luggage or complete loose leaves).
A press pot uses a coarse grind, (the grinder in your supermarket will be marked for it). They use no filter, so to speak, as the plunger has a screen to act as a filter. You might want to include a coffee scoop and a bag of properly ground dark roast. Just about any place that sells coffee makers should have them.
Bodum is a brand of French press coffee makers. No, you don't need to buy a filter for it. I think it's nice to get a bag of interesting coffee to make up the gift, perferably Fairtrade coffee and go for a strength 4 or 5 because it makes a better coffee for these sorts of presses. Bodum is good because they last, the glass is strong and when they press, the work soooo much better than the cheap ones. Check online, they aren't 'expensive' but more than ?5/$5 understandably because Bodum is a quality brand and it shows because of better design rather than something that looks like a French press but is inadequate or fragile and breaks 2 weeks later!
