Do yourself a favor and check out Epica, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, and Tristiana. These are progressive metal bands with female lead vocals and growly male vocals. Each of these bands have many songs that have a mix of both vocal styles. Hit Myspace or Facebook and check them out. Look up Epica's Living a Lie: The Embrace That Smothers off of their Divine Conspiracy album.
I'll have to look more into this, I know tons of metal bands but this is an area I've never had much success finding, I know some of the early 90s gothic metal bands used Death Growls and clean vocals sometimes: Paradise Lost Amorphis My Dying Bride Theatre of Tragedy Tristitia Anathema but even in these it's pretty scarce, I keep an I on this question
