HELP PLEASE! - Is this fabric (pic attached) a woven or a knit?

Answer:

It looks woven to me. Knitted and crocheted fabrics are made from a single strand of yarn/thread, or sometimes more than one strand bundled together. Woven fabrics are made by running individual strands of thread/yarn from one end of the loom to another, and then drawing other threads back and forth across the loom, going over and under the base threads. If the threads are woven by sending the shuttle full of thread over one base thread and under the next thread, and repeating this, then it's called a tabby weave. Post a picture of the edge of the fabric and I'll probably be able to tell which it is more accurately.
From your picture, this appears to be a woven fabric, utilizing the warp and weft to make a raised pattern. Knit fabrics are usually made from polyester or polyester blends-- think double knits, stretchy pants, clingy stretch shirts-- and have no prevalent warp or weft threads, although they will have rows. Another indicator would be stretch, woven fabrics have little to no stretch (with some exceptions) and knits will usually stretch in 2 directions, and often in all 4. Wool is almost always woven, but sometimes it is felted to make a length of cloth. Wool can also be knitted, but this usually for a single item (sweater, scarf, cape), not lengths of fabric.
Change that aluminum to copper and u will have less to worry about.
It appears to be a twill weave with an over 2 under 2 warp and weft.
