Answer:

Common flare tube pressure fittings themselves are self-sealing when properly tightened. No other seals or gaskets are necessary. You can tell because you will (or should have) a little tool with a cone on the end of it to flare out the recieving end of the previous piece of pipe. Make sure that you put the little coupling onto the starting pipe first. Next, place the little compression ring onto the pipe Then, use the flare tool to flare out the end of the starting pipe so the coupling can't pull off. Put the connecting piece into the coupling and use your wrench to tighten it up. Then put a ring and coupling onto the second pipe and tighten it down.
The lock is about $30, plus another 30 for the locksmith to rekey it to your old keys. The clips that holds the lock in $20?, The linkage from the lock to the latch $20? Paint job for the scratch $300. So with or without insurance you will be paying it all. Another idea. I can't remember if the left and right locks interchange on a Toyota. Go to the junk yard and get a used lock, clip, and linkage. If the L/R locks interchange, put the used lock on the passenger side and your passenger lock on the drivers side. If they don't swap, you will have to take the new lock and your old key to a locksmith so they can rekey the lock. Junkyard cost $20. You might want to also get the latch also. If they janked the linkage hard enough, they might have bent the metal in the latch.
