Im doing a senior project and i was wondering if anybody knew a sight where I can find the whole history of car suspension?
That would defeat the purpose of your doing a senior project. You need to research on : --the early automobile and using horse and buggy carriages for automobile use. --leaf springs --shock absorbers --springs --hydraulic shocks --pneumatic shock systems (air ride systems--used by Cadillac in the 1950's to this day--Lincoln still uses) --anti-sway bars --modern use and integration of shocks, struts, tie rod systems --ABS systems (individual wheel sensor , computer controlled) --AWD systems (individual wheel sensor, computer controlled) Also, review --weight of vehicle and shock absorbers (the nose down problem of heavy cars when braking) and stopping distances, use of drum brakes and evolution to shocks and struts. --tire balancing and alignment, how this affects suspension and cornering when out of balance and alignment Many books on automobiles are at Barnes and Noble and always follow the technology developments by year/model.
