Question:

Homosexual Christians?

Does God still hate homosexuals even if they believe and pray to Him? Homosexuals, have you ever tried to convert to heterosexuality? If homosexuality is so wrong, why does it exist? Where did it come from if God did not create it? Just randomly thinking and would like some opinions.

Answer:

Read the actual bible and you will find homosexuality is only mentioned in Leviticus. Many (most) of the things Leviticus states as a sin are done everyday by church going people without even knowing it. For example wearing two types of cloth at the same time. Cotton with a polyester blend is therefore a sin. Google it, the list is long. Homosexual habits are found in all species on the planet. Therefore your God must have created it. I am an atheist but have studied the bible and many other religions as I find it Absolutley fascinating that people go to such extremes over it. The bible was a great way to control the population and give them rules to live by long before police and government. Things like be nice, don't steal, don't kill, etc. sounds like common sense but long ago it just wasn't. Everybody is scared of dying and I desperately wanted to find truth in the bible and heaven but other than being a very interesting story I couldn't find faith. Live true honest and happy and if there is a heaven you will get to go.
god doesn't hate anyone - i never have never will try to convert (although people have asked me would i like to) because i know my god loves me just as much as he loves all his children - homosexuality is not wrong (different maybe? but not wrong) - i Ont really know why it exists but i like to think that god created everyone in his image so he made me as i should be - if god did not create it then i would go to a more scientific point of view say homosexuality is natures own birth control :)
In order: God doesn't hate anyone who seeks Him---check Mark 12, around verse 30 or so. Love God, then love your neighbor, and the rest is merely details. I have never personally tried to convert, but denial is a powerful tool, as is attempted self-regulation to remain pure in spite of the feelings and such. Homosexuality really isn't wrong, but if it were, your answer would come out somewhere along the lines of, It came into being at the time of the Fall. Adam and Eve introduced original sin, and from that came all kinds of other sins, such as homosexuality. Also, Nic is slightly wrong---there are places in the Bible other than Leviticus that mention homosexuality. However, these places all come AFTER Leviticus and are sources that are not direct words from God, but rather words from the authors, who would have been instructed in Levitican law from an early age (such as Paul, who was born to Pharisees). Therefore, to discredit these mentions, it is only necessary to discredit the portion from Leviticus. My preferred way of doing this is not to rely on the ignorance of modern Christians and their errors, but rather to mention two other specific portions of Levitican law: a man may not marry his half-sister, and a man may not marry two women who are sisters. Abraham married his half-sister, and Jacob married two women who were sisters. Abraham and Jacob are considered pillars of the faith. Why? Because they maintained a strong relationship with God---that is what constitutes righteousness, if you actually look at the whole picture.
