when the car upshifts (2nd gear back down to 1st gear) i feel a slight nudge.ive heard honda transmission shift firmer than other cars.is this normal behavior? also when coming to a stop when the car shifts into first gear it nudges as well, its like a slight bump. i just want to make sure all is ok ) anywone with a honda that shifts more noticably than other cars? best answer gets 10 points!
The year is important. from 1998 - 2004 Honda had a terrible time with the transmissions they hooked to V6 engines. The first source has a theory on what was wrong. In those transmissions hard shifting can be a sign of impending failure, possibly because the failures were the result of Honda trying to make the shifts soft. 1998 and later transmissions should have fairly soft shifts; pre-1998 transmissions have rather hard shifts.
