This depends on the detection sensitivity of the photosensitive resistor you bought for the infrared sensor.
The general adjustment is between 2~8 meters, and you have to adjust it by field test. Generally, the increase of resistance is the amplifier gain, so that the detection distance can be increased.
The distance is also related to the delay. So you still need to be tested on the spot.
