How big an electromagnet to lift a car engine?

I‘d like to get an idea on how large an electromagnet I‘d need to move irregular sized items such as a car engine. I‘m aware that a 500 lb magnet will hold 500 lbs when it‘s in full contact with the object it‘s lifting, so how big do I need to go?
