Does survey work as far as getting a new laptop?

These are FAKE! You can try lottery, but it's still a virus risk AND the chance to get it it less than 0,1%. If you want a new laptop, you should buy it.
All the free laptops that I`ve seen tie you into an expensive contract for two years which costs a lot more than buying a laptop, and going with a cheaper internet provider.
No such thing as a free brand new laptop. You might be able to find an old donated laptop, though. Those sites only give you spam and spyware, and a big waste of time.
