Question:

How can i replace a caravan roof and what are the costs and procedures to rendering external walls?

When replacing an old static caravan roof is there a way to build a vaulted ceiling but so there are no ties? Possibly something to do with strengthening the walls so they take the extra weight of the roof? And also what steps are made in insulating and rendering a caravan of approx 30ft length and what kind of price am i looking at?Any tips/ hints or full answers are really appreciatedThanks, Drew

Answer:

I do not understand all the Britishisms of a static roof and rendering a caravan be patient with me and I will suggest a working plan for a new roof on your trailer/camper you really do not much extra weight on the walls if you use aluminum angle and C shaped pieces to support the new roof the roof cross pieces should be spaced to hold the weight from side to side of the camper the aluminum cross pieces are to be anchored to aluminum like sections of angle that run the length of the camper not sure what you plan to use as the top covering of the camper [[ products vary in UK to USA ]] run your interior lighting and side near roof driving/running light wires while the roof is open apply batts of insulation to the interior plywood roof panels and at this point you will apply the interior ceiling light fixtures having done all this you are now ready to close the roof with the exterior sheet metal galvanized covering or the product of your choice or what is necessary hopefully this gives you some direction to start just take it one step at a time so you do not waste materials or your labor time .
